So, I guess my posting once every two weeks didn't work out as planned. But hey, that is how it goes sometimes.
I wanted to give you all an update for Dandy Doodads, which should be operational around the beginning of April. Below is an image of my "work-in-progress". Hopefully I can have my sun catchers finished by the end of this week/beginning of next week. Then comes the challenge of designing and painting my scarves. : )

We Have A Name!!!
After one long night up researching words and various goddesses, my godfamily and I finally have a name for our new arts enterprise. . . .
Dandy Doodads
by The Goddess Quartet
So now that we have a name, all that is left is to get some work together and move into our new space. : ) I am very excited to finally be able to get back to my artistic roots and launch this business. And, on the plus side, I have my family right by my side cheering me on, and holding me accountable (which for me will be very helpful in keeping me motivated to get things done).
We will have a blog space for Dandy Doodads, which I will share with you once we get it up and running. I will also be creating a page on here to display some of our work and link you guys over to that blog.
Now, if I can just remember where I left my sketch book. . . . .

Funkie Junk Artist Mall and Other Consignment Outlets
So I was recently approached by my godmother about starting an arts enterprise with her and my godsisters.
Of course, as you all know, I am going to be creating fiber crafts such as painted silk scarves and sun catchers, embroidered bookmarks and key-chains, and maybe even some handbags. I have also thought about dabbling in the paper arts (hand-painted stationary and cards). After all, paper is made from fibers. : )
My godmother, Robin, will be creating yard art and windowpane shelving units from repurposed items such as wood pallets and old dishware. Creating new from old and giving new life to otherwise disregarded items.
One of my godsisters, Samantha, who is a chef, will be making homemade sauces, rubs, marinades, and other goodies for the kitchen. And, as of now, I am not sure what items my other godsisters will be creating - but I know they will be a great as the things I have just described.
So, we have an idea and the beginnings of a plan. For now we are going to get started on creating a workspace in my godmother's basement, coming up with a name, and getting a blog site set up for the business. We discussed names when we got together yesterday, but have not decided on anything as of yet. I have a few ideas that I have been tossing around (due to a sleepless night last night), but I don't want to reveal those just yet.
Well, we are all excited and ready to get to work. Hopefully you can check out our space when we get it set up.
Till next time, happy creating!!!

A Long Time Overdue
So, I created this blog back in July and have since gotten so busy with other life responsibilities that I haven't posted since. And as I sit here wondering how to move on with my artistic dreams, I came back to this blog with the intention of finishing what I began so many months ago.
Since July I have completed another semester at Salem College and have gain a few new tools for success, which I am grateful. I have learned a lot about fundraising for not-for-profit organizations, which I see to be very useful in starting my crafts business. The main thing I learned was how to create a case statement to support the organization, which (with a few tweaks) can be used in creating a business plan for a for-profit enterprise. I hope to soon be able to have the time to create Harrold Mountain Creations' business plan and to move one step closer to my dream.
Also since July, I have decided to pursue Phase One of the MAT program at Salem College in order to obtain my teaching license so that I may be able to search for a position as an art teacher at a K-12 school - thus being able to support myself and also have summers to work on establishing Harrold Mountain Creations. I see this as the best path for me to achieve all of my artistic dreams. It is just hard in the meantime to keep things together is such a rough economy. But I know deep down that all will be well as long as I keep moving forward. And to keep myself moving forward, I am going to set the goal of posing here at least once every two weeks with updates on my progress and other insights I gain along the way.
Lastly, I would also like to invite each of you to check out my Google Site that I have created to document my work at Salem College (and with Harrold Mountain Creations). Let me know what you think.
